Natraj Youth Cultural Organization (NYCO) has been a trailblazer in commemorating Gandhi Jayanti inthe Greater Toronto Area (GTA) since 2010. Beginning in 2017, NYCO joined forces with the ConsulateGeneral of India, Toronto, to honour Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary, with their commitment tocommunity enrichment through the arts as a constant hallmark.The UN General Assembly, through a resolution in 2007, designated October 2 as the International Dayof Non-Violence to coincide with the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.In 2019, NYCO expanded its celebration to encompass Vishnu Mandir, amplifying the utilization of PeacePark, which houses an imposing statue of Gandhi.Since 2010, NYCO has actively participated in the India Day Parade, garnering acclaim for their latestfloat spotlighting women empowerment and millet farming. His name was synonymous with a way of life that has altered the course of history – a name that continues to inspire millions to this day. NYCO (Nataraj Youth and Cultural Organization) celebrated 150th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi with Support of Consulate General of India, Toronto at the Radha Krishna Temple, in Toronto, Canada on October 20, 2018. There were over 200 attendees at the Radha Krishna Temple located at 1960 Ellesmere Road, Toronto from 11:30 am till 1:30 pm. The Radha Krishna temple was transformed into a mini Gandhi Ashram with a beautiful hut in a corner decorated with mud walls, a journey of Mahatama Gandhi’s life and 350 Mahatma Gandhi postage stamps display by Dharmendra Patel. There were many enlarged photos of Gandhiji, alongside with props like the Charka (spinning wheel), that would remind you of India before the Independence.
